The attraction in the Lower Zambezi is not only the location, but
the variety of things to do and see. Situated on the southern
border of Zambia is the Lower Zambezi Valley with the Zambezi
Escarpment to the North and Mana Pools National Park across the
river. The Lower Zambezi Valley with vast expanses of
floodplain and lush vegetation, between the river and escarpment,
is home to a myriad species of birds, wildlife and 4 of Africa's
Big 5! All this with the added bonus of Mana Pools National Park
on the opposite bank of the sometimes one kilometre wide
Zambezi River.

Game viewing from open 4 x 4's treats you to
beautiful scenery, diverse flora and fauna, dazzling birdlife and
many species of wildlife from minute to massive. In the
Lower Zambezi National Park THERE ARE NO 4 x 4 TRAFFIC JAMS! and
often you won't see another vehicle the entire duration of your
drive. Night drives are often very exciting with viewings of
some of the large cats, porcupine, hyena, civet cat and many more
interesting nocturnal animals.
Your guide will look for flora and fauna of
special curiosity to you and let you spend as long as you wish
viewing them. He will interest you with information on many
species' behaviour and lifestyle and be glad to answer your
questions. Of particular attraction in the Lower Zambezi are
the packs of African Wild Dog, the rare Angola Pitta, Samango
Monkeys, and the Aardvaark among the many other exciting sightings
of lion, leopard, hyena, and huge breeding herds of elephant.
Words alone simply cannot express the sensations
that you will experience while Canoeing. Whether canoeing
the main river or the enchanted inland channels canoeing can be
totally relaxing and equally exhilarating. Our professional
canoe guides will lead you down stream allowing you to
absorb the true essence of the river and valley. The only sounds
are the gentle slap of your paddle and the hushed
instruction from your guide coupled with the unlimited sounds of
the wilderness - truly a time to purify the soul!
Boating is for those that prefer a simple river
experience where you can unwind and watch the wildlife on the
river's edge or islands, from the comfort of the boat. Your
coxswain and guide will take you safely close enough to animals
browsing the river banks so you can enjoy great photo
opportunities set in splendid scenery.
Guided Walking: is another way to enjoy your stay
with us. Your guide will arrange a national park escort and
together they will take you on a walk through the wilderness where
you will see tracks and game from foot and even learn of
Africa's often forgotten little wildlife - like small rodents,
colourful birds and reptiles as well as fascinating species of
insects.
Fishing: The Zambezi River has hundreds of
different species of fish including the sporting and voracious
Zambezi Tiger with their great fighting spirit. Sometimes up
to 35 kilogrammes or more, a Zambezi catfish, the Vundu, is
also an exciting fish to land. All fishing is on a catch and
release basis in the interests of conservation. Angling in
the Lower Zambezi River is always rewarding, throughout the season
from April through November whether fishing off reel or fly.
A limited stock of fishing tackle is provided at our lodges and
for serious anglers we recommend you bring your own.
